“Company Aquisition”

Featuring Dave Bailey

Intro: Welcome to Profiles In Prosperity. The leading podcast for residential service contractors, sponsored by Service Roundtable and hosted by David Heimer.

David Heimer: Hi, this is David Heimer. Welcome to Profiles In Prosperity. Today I have the pleasure of speaking with Dave Bailey. Dave is the plumbing vertical market manager for Service Nation. He is a really interesting guy because he is also in addition to that a flight engineer for the Texas Air National Guard. He has had a very successful career in plumbing before joining us. And we’re going to ask him about that. So Dave, welcome to Profiles In Prosperity.

Dave Bailey: Thank you, David. How are you this morning?

David Heimer: I’m well, thank you. So let’s start off at the beginning. How did you get into plumbing?

Dave Bailey: Well, after I left active duty air force, back in the nineties. I had a job that didn’t go so well. Was with a company that had been mismanaged and there ended up being a lot of people laid off. So a buddy of mine that I was in the air force with had taken a job with a national plumbing company in Phoenix. And he transferred up to Portland, Oregon, where I was at, and he talked me into coming in and giving it a try.

David Heimer: And the rest is history. So was there any part of plumbing that you focused on?

Dave Bailey: I focused in the beginning on drains, jetting, residential things like products that one of our vendors {inaudible 01:19} one product similar to bio one, offering that to customers, excavations. Later on, we did lining and trenchless pipe replacements. And then as my experience grew, I was doing commercial water mains for companies like Pepsi, Gatorade Coca-Cola, but my base was always the people in the homes that had plumbing issues. That was kind of my favorite place to be.
