“Company Aquisition”

Featuring Tim Boudreaux

Intro: Welcome to Profiles In Prosperity, the leading podcast for residential service contractors sponsored by Service Roundtable and hosted by David Heimer.

David Heimer: Hi everybody, welcome to Profiles In Prosperity, I’m David Heimer. Today I get to talk with Tim Boudreaux of Tim’s AC in Louisiana. He’s got a really interesting story. He’s just sold his business so I want to hear all about that, but could you start us off and tell us how you got into our industry?

Tim Boudreaux: Well, in 1973, I was a freshman in high school and the high school started a career campus program that included heating and air conditioning. So naturally, I went into that course and did that for two years. And in my second year, I was able to find a job in the summer doing heating and air conditioning. So I would work the summertime, and then go to school and then work the summertime. When I graduated from high school, I was offered a full-time position with the guy I was working for in the heating and air conditioning business, and then pretty much the rest is history. I was 18 years old when I graduated and I worked with a couple of individuals in the heating and air conditioning business and then started Tim’s in 1983. I was 23 years old. I started that business in February of 1983.

David Heimer: What a great thing to have a high school with that kind of program. You know, so many of the high schools now have dropped those programs, and yet, look at how it worked out for you. You graduated from high school. You went right into a job with a terrific career.
